Ha! I knew that would grab your attention! I have to say growing up in a family with 4 sisters, we had our moments of placing blame when caught doing something we shouldn’t. It just seemed so much easier to blame someone else, right? Then you don’t have to deal with the punishment, or what the consequences may be.
Sometimes life as an adult mirrors our childlike behaviors, but the word of God is clear, as Paul said,”when I was a child, I spoke, thought and reasoned as a child. When I grew up, I put away childish things” 1 Cor 13: 11. Let’s be grown up, and take responsibility for the things for which we are responsible.
This isn’t just the bad things, but the things we should be standing UP for, especially these days. It is so easy to duck and hide in the shadows and just try to “blend in” when the controversial is happening. We often find ourselves doing everything we can, NOT to draw attention. I think the world is aching to see someone truly take a stand once again.
Yes, we will be the subject of negative comments, insults might be hurled at us, and we may even be hated, but…hmmm, that sounds so familiar…Jesus also endured those things. God told us in John 16:33 that we would have tribulation in this world, but to take heart, He has overcome the world. I take comfort in His word to me in John 15:18 “ If the world hates you, understand, it hated me first”. Wow. Let’s take God’s hand and walk towards the blame boldy. I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone that believes.
